MOTHER MUSE | Jordan Pie

Meet Jordan Pie, a woman deeply connected to the healing power of food and the rituals that nourish us from the inside out. As a clinical nutritionist and cookbook author, Jordan’s days are spent between her sunlit kitchen and her cosy office, creating nourishing meals for her partner, sipping herbal tea or homemade bone broth, and guiding her clients back to balance through food as medicine.
Jordan believes that health doesn’t come from restriction, but from connection, to nature, to real food, and to ourselves. Her food philosophy is beautifully simple: eat locally, seasonally, and intuitively. Less ingredients, more nourishment.
Through her work, Jordan encourages others to ditch diet culture, listen to their bodies, and find joy in the everyday rituals of eating well. Whether she’s developing gut-friendly recipes, teaching additive-free food swaps, or diving deep into her own wellness practices, Jordan leads with authenticity and care.
She’s a Mother Muse because she embodies what we stand for: a slower, more intentional way of living, with real food, real sun, and real self-love at the heart of it all.
With so many quick-fix diets around, how do you encourage people to make lasting, meaningful changes that support their overall health and well-being?
With so many quick-fix diets and supplements out there, I really believe the most meaningful change comes from education - not restriction. When people understand what’s actually in their food and how it can affect their body (without all the fear or overwhelm), it naturally leads to more mindful choices. I always encourage starting small. It’s never about being perfect or swapping out everything overnight, it’s about creating habits that feel realistic and sustainable for you. Real, whole foods are such a big part of that. They nourish us deeply, and when our bodies feel supported and satisfied, we’re far less likely to crave the ultra-processed stuff or get caught in the cycle of quick fixes. To me, it’s not about rules, it’s about building a way of eating and living that supports your energy, gut health, and overall wellbeing long-term. And food should always feel joyful, comforting, and full of flavour.
As a busy nutritionist, you juggle a lot. How do you manage to prioritise nourishing meals for yourself amidst the chaos?
Such a great question, and honestly, it’s not always perfect. But I always come back to this: my health is one of my biggest values. It’s the one thing we can’t buy back once it’s gone, so I do my best to prioritise nourishing myself, especially when life feels a little chaotic. I’ve found that when we’re under stress is often when our bodies need the most support. That doesn’t mean I’m cooking elaborate meals every day, far from it! But I do try to keep a few nourishing staples on hand or have something prepped in the fridge to make things easier. Simple things like a few boiled eggs, a pot of chicken soup, or turning last night’s dinner into lunch can make such a difference. And if I ever find myself tempted to reach for something I know won’t leave me feeling great (even if it is the easier option at the time), I gently remind myself that taking a few extra minutes to nourish my body is always worth it. When I feel well-fed, nourished and supported, I’m in a much better place to show up for everything else in my day.
Do you have any must have rituals to help set your day up for success?
I wouldn’t say I have a strict morning routine, but I do have a few little rituals that help ground me before the day gets going. Every morning starts with a coffee with my partner, it’s such a simple moment but one I really cherish. I also love getting out for a walk before I dive into work. It helps clear my head and shift my energy, especially if it’s sunny. Lately, I’ve been exploring EFT (tapping) to support my mindset and create more calm before the day begins. I’m still finding my flow with it, but I can really feel the difference when I take the time. So nothing fancy, but just a few gentle things to help me ease into the day.
How do you normally end your day? Do you have a favourite way to unwind?
Lately, I’ve been ending my day in the kitchen with some old-school rap playing - Biggie, Nas, Eminem… the classics 😄I throw it on while I make dinner, rap (badly), and let myself be a bit silly. It’s such a simple way to shake off the day and bring in some lightness before my partner gets home. There’s something grounding about cooking a nourishing meal while having a laugh, even if it’s just with myself.
I don’t really watch much TV, but after dinner you’ll usually find me winding down with a book on my Kindle. It’s such a lovely way to switch off and escape into another world before bed. I also use an EMF-blocking blanket when I’m reading, just something small that helps reduce exposure to wireless radiation and supports my circadian rhythm. It’s become a little bedtime ritual that feels cosy and helps me ease into rest.
How do you view the connection between what we eat and what we put on our skin?
I see them as really connected - our skin is our largest organ, and just like the food we eat, what we put on our skin can either support or stress the body. I often think of it as a two-way street: nourishing ourselves from the inside out with real, whole foods… and from the outside in with low-tox, skin-loving products. Both matter, and both can have a big impact on how we feel - especially when it comes to things like inflammation, hormone balance, and skin health. It doesn’t mean doing everything perfectly, but being mindful of what we’re feeding our bodies and what we’re absorbing through our skin is a beautiful act of self-care.
What should people look for in a sunscreen to ensure it’s safe for both their health and the environment?
When choosing a sunscreen, I think it’s really important to look for something that’s good for both your body and the environment. I personally love Mother SPF because it feels like a perfect fit for both. It’s mineral-based, using zinc oxide, so it provides broad-spectrum protection without being absorbed into the skin, which I love. It’s also made with nourishing ingredients and is free from harsh chemicals like oxybenzone and synthetic fragrances, which I avoid in my skincare. On top of that, it’s reef-safe, which is a big deal to me - chemical sunscreens can harm marine life, and I love knowing I’m using something that’s kind to the planet. Ultimately, I think it’s about choosing products that align with your health and values, and for me, Mother SPF is a great option.
Why do you feel zinc oxide is such a great ingredient for sunscreen, and how does it fit into your skincare philosophy?
Zinc oxide is one of my top picks for sunscreen because it’s simple, effective, and non-toxic. Unlike chemical sunscreens that absorb into the skin, zinc oxide sits on top, physically blocking UV rays without irritation. It’s gentle, safe for sensitive skin, and won’t disrupt hormones. Plus, it’s reef-safe and aligns perfectly with my low-tox skincare philosophy - effective protection without the harmful ingredients. Simple, safe, and trustworthy!
What new belief or habit has made the biggest improvement to your life in the last 5 years?
The biggest shift for me in the last five years has been embracing the idea that slow and steady change is often the most sustainable. In the past, I’d sometimes push for quick results or instant fixes, but I’ve learned that meaningful, lasting change happens when we take small, consistent steps. Whether it’s making simple food swaps, switching over my skincare and personal care products to low tox options, or finding time for little moments of self-care, doing it gradually (without pressure) has had the biggest impact. It’s helped me let go of that all-or-nothing mindset and just focus on what feels supportive and sustainable for me. This shift has honestly changed the way I show up for myself - more grounded, more intentional, and far less caught up in trying to be “perfect” (because that doesn’t exist anyway).
