Is MOTHER SPF regulated?

Yes — MOTHER SPF is regulated by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), which enforces some of the strictest sunscreen regulations in the world. We comply with the Australian Standard AS/NZS 2604:2012 and are registered with the ARTG.

When does it expire?

Each tube has a shelf life of 3 years. Check the crimp at the end of the tube for your product’s exact expiry date.

Is MOTHER SPF cruelty free?

Absolutely. We never test on animals — only on willing humans.

Is MOTHER SPF vegan?

Yes. We only use plant-based oils and waxes, no animal derivatives or beeswax. Bees are vital to our ecosystem, so beeswax is a no-go for us.

Does MOTHER SPF use any nasties?

We avoid ingredients that are harmful, questionable, or unnecessary. You won’t find parabens, PEGs, sulfates, GMOs, mineral oils, petrolatum, silicones, synthetic fragrance, or chemical UV filters in our formulas.

Are your ingredients natural and organic?

All of our ingredients can be found in nature and are designed to work in harmony with skin. We use organic ingredients where possible, and always choose the highest grade, sustainably sourced options available.

Are your formulations certified?

While certification can vary, we always use the highest quality ingredients on the market and source organic where available.

Does MOTHER SPF use Nano-Particles?

No. We only use Non-Nano Zinc Oxide, steering clear of nanoparticles while research continues.

Is MOTHER SPF Broad Spectrum?

Yes. MOTHER SPF protects against both UVA rays (responsible for premature ageing) and UVB rays (the ones that burn).

Is MOTHER SPF fragrance free?

Our Face & Body SPF is fragrance free. Our Tinted Face SPF 50 includes a small amount of Rose Geranium Essential Oil for its antioxidant and anti-ageing benefits.

Is MOTHER SPF safe to use during pregnancy?

Yes. MOTHER SPF is free of retinoids, BHAs, parabens, preservatives, and chemical UV filters. Always check with your doctor before introducing new products while pregnant.

What skin type is MOTHER SPF for?

All skin types — including sensitive and acne-prone. Our clean, natural formulations are designed to be gentle and effective.

MOTHER SPF Face and Body is oil based. Does this mean it will cause breakouts?

MOTHER SPF has been formulated with high quality natural oils and will not disrupt the skin's biome, keeping your sebum glands regulated and your skin happy.

Will MOTHER SPF affect how my makeup sits?

Yes, except that it will change your makeup wearing life for the better. All our formulations are super hydrating meaning a smoother makeup application and will last the length of the day. Pro-tip: wait a minute or so before applying makeup for all of the oils in MOTHER SPF to work their dewy magic.

How do I apply?

MOTHER SPF is oil based and water-free which means a little goes a long way - good news for your bank account, and your skin. Apply on clean dry skin as you would a moisturiser, before makeup.

Is MOTHER SPF water resistant?

Our Face and Body is certified water resistant for 2 hours, so you can frolic in a body of water, take a bath, work up a sweat, or have a drink thrown at you, all without taking home a nasty sunburn. After 2 hours a decline in SPF protection may occur, so reapply this baby. And if safety is your calling – reapply every 2 hours.

What’s the finish like?

While it’s concentrated, it’s a very sheer formula. i.e don’t expect it to offer any coverage. Instead expect enough shimmer to give you a natural, luminous glow, without being glittery and having just enough colour to look like you have just gotten back from a holiday in the Bahamas!

Can I use it every day?

It’s been designed for everyday use. It protects you from all environmental aggressors that can wreak havoc on your skin, adds hydration + antioxidants to the skin and makes you look like a glowy bronzed goddess. Why wouldn't you?

What skin type?

Suitable for all skin types - from the very oily to the very dry, and everything in between. You choose your SPF, foundation and moisturiser for your skin and we choose your one stop shop Golden Drops. 

Who is this product for?

Mineral SPF users, bronzer lovers, and pretty much anyone who likes their skin to look glowing, healthy and gorgeous (so everyone right?).

How do I apply?

For that post vay-cay glow, add a TINY amount to whatever is your last layer of skin care. If you legit have been on a vay-cay and already have some colour in your skin - you might prefer to massage one to two drops directly into your skin to really make everyone jealous you have been jet setting. It’s also designed for the body so add to your body oil or moisturiser for some extra golden glow.

How illuminating is it? And will I look orange?

The best thing about this product - is your daily glow is totally customisable by you! The more drops, the more illumination! And although we use only golden tones (not a hint of orange in sight!) if you add too many drops - well you might belong on Willy Wonka.

Is it Vegan?

This is our only product that is not vegan due to the luminosity from the added Pearl Powder. MOTHER’s founder grew up on a Pearl Farm and always admired Pearl farms as they use every aspect of a Pearl Shell so that nothing goes to waste! Our Pearl shell powder is also sustainably sourced from freshwater pearls.

Does the tint work for all skin tones?

The formula is lightly tinted to avoid leaving a white residue that is normally associated with mineral sunscreens. Being only lightly tinted allows the formulation to work for all skin tones.

Does it provide coverage?

It has not been formulated to provide coverage, instead it’s been designed to provide a hint of colour to smooth and blur pores. If you are wanting additional coverage, we recommend using this as your primer before your foundation.

How will it make my skin look?

If you love looking like a glowing queen, you will love this formulation. If you prefer a more matte finish, just use this as your moisturiser instead or put some powder over the top.

Is it water resistant?

This formula is not water resistant. Make sure to use a high protection water resistant primary sunscreen if spending time in the sun and swimming.

What does it smell like?

It slightly has that "SPF smell" but for good reason - it gives you confidence that we have not added any naughty fragrances into the formulation. Your skin health is our #1 priority.

What is the texture like?

Creamy! Being a mineral SPF with a high mineral load, it will still feel thicker than a traditional chemical sunscreen but thanks to our innovative applicator brush you will not notice this on the skin.

What do I do if my brush head is dirty?

Send us an email and we can arrange to send you a new unused brush head. 

Do you provide samples?

Not at this time. We recommend checking with a local stockist, where testers are usually available.

How should I store my SPF?

Store in a cool, dark place. When you’re out and about, keep it in your bag rather than leaving it in direct sunlight.

MOTHER SPF is made with Zinc Oxide — does that mean it will leave a white cast?

Traditionally yes, but our formulas use non-nano Zinc Oxide and advanced technology to minimise white cast. The finish is sheer and blends easily into skin.

Can I use MOTHER SPF on babies or sensitive skin?

Yes. Our formulas are natural, fragrance-free, and designed for sensitive skin. For extra caution, patch test before first use.

Is your packaging sustainable?

Yes. Our tubes are made from Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) plastics, helping to close the loop on packaging waste. Our cartons are made from PCR or corn starch.

When should I apply MOTHER SPF?

Apply 20 minutes before sun exposure to clean, dry skin. Reapply after swimming, sweating, or exercising.

Where does MOTHER SPF fit in my routine?

Apply as the final step in your skincare routine, before makeup. Think of it as the protective layer that keeps the good in and the bad out.
