MOTHER MUSE | Bianca Melas

At Mother SPF, we believe in living well — through movement, nourishment, and daily self-care. That’s why we loved connecting with Bianca Melas, Pilates instructor, naturopathy student, and Alo Moves trainer.
Raised in a Mediterranean home where food was medicine and movement was joy, Bianca built a wellness platform offering energising Pilates, restorative breathwork, and mindful rituals. Her philosophy? True wellness blends inner kindness with outer strength, helping her community find balance in body, routine, and life.
You started Pilates at a very young age alongside your mum. How has that early introduction to movement shaped your approach to health
and healing today?
Movement has always been a huge part of who I am, a way to express myself, move through emotion, and connect more deeply to my sense of self. I started dance at a very young age and would often attend Pilates classes with my mum (though they looked very different to how they do today).Movement with music has always lit me up, but it’s also been the way I process and shift through whatever “funk” I might be in.
That early foundation has shaped the way I view movement today, as a non-negotiable, a privilege, and a tool for connection. For me, it’s far more than exercise. Movement is meditation. It’s deeply transformative and one of the most powerful tools I have for healing, both physically and emotionally.
Your Italian upbringing clearly plays a big role in your love for food and natural remedies. What are some herbs or homegrown ingredients you always turn to for healing from the inside out?
I’m so grateful for my upbringing, where food was a shared ritual and natural remedies were woven seamlessly into daily life. My Nonna, who grew up on land and has always tended her own vegetable garden, had an intuitive knowledge about plants and their healing power. She’d pick fresh dandelion leaves, boil them, and drink the tea, certain it would “do her good.” Back then, I didn’t realise she was supporting her liver, digestion, and detoxification... it was just what she knew to do, the way her mother had before her.
Today, I see how much of that connection to nature and self-sufficiency we’ve lost in our fast-paced, convenience-driven world. Through my naturopathic studies and the traditions passed down to me, I feel a deep responsibility and privilege, to carry that knowledge forward, blending ancient wisdom with modern science so it can continue to support health in the way nature intended.
From a naturopath perspective, controlling what chemicals we are exposed to can have a huge impact on our health. Why is it so important to try to stay away from endocrine disrupting ingredients and how do they affect our hormones?
Endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) are substances that can interfere with our body’s hormone system. Hormones are our body’s messengers, they control everything from our mood and energy to our metabolism, fertility, and stress response. EDCs can mimic, block, or alter our natural hormones, which can throw our delicate hormonal balance off.
Over time, repeated exposure, even in small amounts, can contribute to issues like PMS, irregular cycles, thyroid imbalances, weight changes, low energy and fertility struggles. These chemicals can be found in everyday products like plastics, conventional skincare, fragrances, pesticides, and cleaning products.
From a naturopathic perspective, reducing your exposure helps give your body a chance to regulate itself naturally. Start small; as things run out in your home begin to opt for low tox products. Choosing natural cleaning products, avoiding plastic food storage, and using low-tox skincare and sunscreen, can make a big difference to long-term hormonal health.
Do you have any must have rituals to help set your day up for success?
Beginning my day with meditation, gratitude, a cup of bone broth, and then a walk is always the best start. It clears my head, grounds me, and sets the tone for the day ahead. When I fall out of rhythm, because let’s be real, life happens, I notice the shift instantly. Those small daily rituals are what keep me feeling focused, centred, and in flow.
Lastly, what new belief or habit has made the biggest improvement to your life in the last 5 years?
For me, it’s been the transformative power of positive self-talk and manifestation. Over the years, I’ve learned to catch myself whenever I slip into negative or self-critical language and gently reframe those thoughts into nurturing, loving, and supportive messages. This practice goes beyond just words — it’s a vibration, a frequency that shapes my mindset and ultimately my experience of life.
The words we speak to ourselves are incredibly powerful. They don’t just reflect how we feel; they create the blueprint for our reality and set the tone for our mind-body-soul connection. By consciously choosing language rooted in kindness and encouragement, I’ve seen profound shifts not only in my mental wellbeing but also in my physical health and energy.
This habit has helped me cultivate greater resilience, self-love, and alignment with my goals. It’s a beautiful reminder that healing and growth come from within. When we honor ourselves with positive self-talk, we create a ripple effect of wellness that shines through every part of our day.
