Do you have any must have rituals to help set your day up for success?
Yes! I always start my day with some movement- either taking my dog Ted for a walk and/or a pilates class. Getting my body moving in the morning sets the tone for the day, and of course, a coffee is non-negotiable!
How do you normally end your day? Do you have a favourite way to unwind?
My end of day often looks like cooking a nourishing, protein packed meal at home. Cooking is my escape- it helps me slow down, and sometimes I’ll enjoy it with a glass of red wine.
What new belief or habit has made the biggest improvement to your life in the last 5 years?
Learning to let the little things go and trust that things will work out has been life changing for me. I used to get caught up and stressed easily (and definitely sometimes still do!), but running a business has taught me you can’t control everything and that every hurdle has a solution.
How do you tailor your treatments to address the specific needs and goals of each client? How is a remedial massage different from a normal massage?
I always start by listening to my clients and understanding their history -that’s the most important part! It’s like an investigation to uncover the root cause, which is my favourite part of being a remedial therapist. Unlike Swedish massage, remedial work is about really getting to the bottom of what’s causing discomfort and helping you move and feel better in your day to day life.
What lessons did you take from working alongside physiotherapists that influence how you manage injuries?
Working alongside physios taught me the importance of truly empathising when someone is in pain- because injuries can impact every part of your life. I learned to see the body as one interconnected system, not just focus on the sore spot, and to share simple ways clients can support their own recovery. It also showed me how powerful clear communication and regular check-ins can be in helping someone feel confident in their healing.
Beyond massage, what exercises or daily habits do you suggest to help clients maintain mobility and reduce pain?
Stay hydrated- it makes a huge difference to your muscles and joints. If you’re working out five days a week, balance it out with recovery, whether that’s stretching before or after class, yoga, a sauna, or even a massage. And most importantly, be realistic with your goals so you can stay consistent and avoid burnout or injury.
Spending so much time treating the body, do you have a skincare routine or tips you follow to protect and care for your skin?
I like to keep my skincare routine really simple and not overcomplicate it. I focus on quality products that work for my skin, always cleanse properly, and never skip SPF (especially being in Australia). I also make sure to hydrate well, nourish my skin from the inside out with a balanced diet, and do regular face massage to release all the muscles in my face, break up fascia, and help the blood flow.
