Eddie Nelson is the founder of Bred Ed, a breathwork and Pilates community built around slowing down, tuning in, and reconnecting to the body. Based in Sydney, Eddie turned to breathwork and Pilates during a difficult period and found they transformed her anxiety, mindset, and overall wellbeing. Now a certified practitioner, she teaches women to honour their cycles, move intuitively, and use the breath as a tool for emotional release and clarity.
What led you to pursue breathwork and Pilates?
Honestly, both found me at a time when I really needed them. I was looking for ways to slow down and reconnect with myself. I started Pilates first and became obsessed, I loved how I felt afterward. It helped me drop into my body and move in a way that felt more graceful, open, feminine, and slow, which was the opposite of the go go go energy I was addicted to at the time. I got qualified and started teaching right away. Not long after, breathwork fell into my lap, and all the qualities I experienced through Pilates were amplified even more on a much deeper & more transformative level! The two truly are the best combination.
Do you have any must-have rituals to set your day up for success?
I keep it simple! breathwork haha at the moment, my favourite is the “shake and breathe” practice on my online portal to wake up my nervous system. I’ve also become obsessed with Qigong to get my body online. These have been my must-haves lately. It sounds simple and maybe a bit cliché, but I always check in with my breath before anything else. Once I do that, I can tune into what my day actually needs.
How do you normally end your day? Favourite way to unwind?
I try to stay off my phone before bed, it’s a game changer. I love to journal- I’m generally pretty calm at night. I’m usually in bed by 8:30pm often listening to the sleep series on the Bred portal to help me wind down. Sometimes I make a yummy cocoa and I always like to reflect on my day. I ask myself - Did I make someone feel good today? Was I calm? Was I present?
What new belief or habit has made the biggest improvement to your life in the last 5 years?
Giving myself permission to not always be “on.” I used to think I had to push, achieve, and hustle (ew) nonstop. The biggest shift has been embracing slower growth and actually trusting my body’s signals. I’ve learned that truly anything is possible if you put your mind to it. Through breathwork, I’ve unlocked and shifted things in myself that I never thought were possible. All the answers and wisdom are inside of me!
Do you have a skincare routine or tips you follow to take care of your skin?
I’m a minimalist. I honestly believe breathwork does more for my skin than half the products out there. When your nervous system calms down, everything else follows. My routine is basically: cleanse, moisturise, done. Less is more for me.
The best health advice you ever received?
Your body already knows, you just need to listen! It sounds simple, but it completely changed the way I showed up in the world. We’re often too busy to notice what our body is asking for and when you finally tune in, everything works better. Women are incredibly powerful - our bodies are literal vessels for creating life… it’s insane.
If someone wants to give breathwork a try, what's the best way to start?
Start small and don’t overthink it. My online series is perfect for beginners - all the sessions are fully video-guided, so I’m with you every step of the way. There are six categories: Energy, Focus, Sleep, Transform, Pregnancy, and Cycle Syncing (with more coming soon!). Tiny bite size sessions are all you need. Start with 2 minutes, then 5, then 10. When you weave breathwork into your everyday life, the shift becomes noticeable pretty quickly.
